Okay look.
The saying: “The older you are, the wiser you get.” Is a bunch of bullshit.
Plain and simple.
You may get wiser when you are older, but that’s not because of age but experience. Furthermore, just because you are older does not mean those younger than you can’t have the same wisdom as you.
Bitter pill to swallow, but stay with me.
Experience is the foundation of wisdom.
- When you travel and experience life in different cultures and expand your mindset, the experience will show you what it’s like to understand the various shades of human life to make more informed judgments.
This means that ignorance is not bliss. You should experience what it’s like to live in others’ shoes (even for a day) to take away the ups and downs of what you have in your life versus others.
2. Traumatic things happen to people every day. It’s an unfortunate reality that’s true. When something traumatic happens, it tends to flip a switch in ourselves, making us recount our actions towards certain things and shining a brighter light on others.
Those experiences that shape who we are and what we prioritize into perspective will guide us into other sagacity.
3. Reflecting on one’s life experiences can lead to more sound decision-making when it matters (e.g., in politics). The reflection on one’s life produces the quality of wisdom based on the richness and depth of one’s experiences.
Experience and self-reflection can lead to a deeper contemplation of an individual’s life, including their boundaries, likes, dislikes, etc.
Wisdom does not only come from age. It’s a process one experiences in life that holds significant meaning to one’s decision-making.
In contrast, wisdom does come from age to those who do not hold experiences worth enough rich or depth to develop until their ‘wisdom’ approved years.
We’ll talk soon,
Sweet T.
