On our journeys, wherever they may be, we’re always in a rush to get to the destination that we often forget about the scenery along the way.
I’ve personally experienced this, and many others have too, without knowing it.
What’s the point of getting to the destination if we can’t enjoy the scenery along the way?
Here’s the benefits of walking slower:
1: Looking Up
It’s become a habit to always put your head down, whether it’s for work reasons or simply walking to your destination. Our heads always go down. Usually, it’s a sign of how tired we are, but the truth? We’re in such a rush to finish this and get there as quickly as possible that we don’t take a moment to appreciate the beauty of reaching our destination.
So, why not look up every now and then and enjoy the scenery? It may seem as if everything looks the exact same, but that’s an illusion. Everything around you is changing, even when you take the same route to work. You just haven’t noticed it yet.
2: Breath Deeper
Walking slower will allow you to take deeper and more meaningful breaths of fresh air. Focusing on your breathing has the most benefits when you’re on your journey.
When traveling to your destination, it’s best to take deep breaths every so often to release the pent-up energy inside you.
3: Learn New Things
Every time I walk more slowly to my destination, I tend to notice different things I’ve never thought about before.
For example, there was a musician in a park playing an instrument I had never seen before. The music was beautiful, yet the instrument was foreign. Regardless, I sat down and listened to the music this artist was composing, and it was lovely.
When you learn new things, it does not necessarily mean you have to actively participate in them. Some things you learn by simply walking to your destination a little slower and being educated differently.
On the contrary, sometimes the journey to your destination is not always sunshine and rainbows, and that’s okay. Life deals us each a different hand.
All in all, walk more slowly and enjoy the journey to your destination. The most magic is made while you’re heading to the destination rather than the final stop. You never know what could happen along the way.
We’ll talk soon,
Sweet T.
