In the culinary arts, there’s a saying that if you burn something, make sure you burn it well.

I’ve never understood that saying. Why would you seek to ruin something more than it already is? Isn’t the entire point of life to make sure you do damage control where you can?

But then I realized, sometimes you don’t intend to burn, ruin, or mess something up in life. Nobody has that intention, but sometimes it happens that way regardless. So why not have fun and go with it?

Here’s why:

1: Serotonin

When you sing in the car off tune with the music blasting, you’re not angry at yourself for not hitting the right notes. Instead, you can laugh at how off-key your voice is trying to hit the highest notes while praising yourself for the attempt afterwards.

Sometimes being the worst at something is not the end of the world. Being the best at being the worst can give you the necessary dopamine that you need sometimes.

2: Challenge the Social Norm

I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it: Challenge societal norms when you can. You’ll stick out like a sore thumb, but at the end of the day, it’s your life and your experience to be held.

Screw their opinions and keep life exciting.

3: Growth

The growth that will be had during these experiences of being the best at failing unintentionally will shape your character so much that you’ll be unrecognizable in the end.

On the contrary, don’t intentionally fail at every turn. Sometimes, it’s okay if you surprisingly succeed at doing something you thought you’d fail at. Life works in mysterious ways.

We’ll talk soon,

Sweet T.
