Let’s be real.
Being healthy is expensive in this economy!
As we grow older, we start to notice how our health affects our everyday lives.
Since I started focusing more on my body health, I’ve noticed many positive changes in my life. Whether it’s my skin, my sleeping, or how much energy I have throughout the day.
Here’s three small tips that helped me to change my unhealthy routines.
1: A ‘Balanced’ Diet
Look, I’m all for unhealthy food. French fries are one food group that I refuse to give up.
And don’t even get me started on chocolate!
However, incorporating a better diet into your routine does not mean you have to give up your guilty pleasures. It entails you to eat more balanced meals.
In the mornings, when I first started out on my health journey, I decided the first thing I’d eat each morning was a fruit. Whether it be an apple, orange, or some canned peaches.
As I started incorporating fruits into my diet, I noticed I felt a lot more energized throughout the day. Don’t get me wrong, I never saw a change in my body overnight, but the consistency helped me take note of the changes.
So, maybe you don’t give up your guilty pleasures yet. Eating better, regardless of how small it is, you’ll notice a positive change in yourself.
2: Hydration
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
The constant movements throughout your day will take a toll on your body. Sure, you won’t feel the effects until it’s too late but don’t let it get that far.
There are countless times when I’m on the move and barely have time to take a breath, let alone a sip of water. The detrimental effects it had on my body were shocking.
Nobody wants to be dehydrated, especially with climate change on the rise.
Drink water throughout your day. Not only will it increase your productivity, but it is also beneficial in keeping your skin hydrated from breakouts.
To look good is to stay healthy and hydrated.
3: Sleep >>>
Sleep is a luxury.
We’re busy building our lives, starting our careers, or finishing school. Who has time to sleep when time doesn’t stop?
Taking a break from the chaos of life and taking a nap or getting a good night’s rest can be more beneficial than you think.
I know what it’s like to constantly be stressed to the point where sleep seems futile. At the time, I didn’t realize that it was more detrimental to my health than I thought.
Did it make me more productive? No. Was I capable of accomplishing more while I was waking up early and sleeping late? No.
It turned out that reducing my sleep hours doubled my workload because I was tired and not performing at my highest level.
Getting enough sleep is a luxury, but it’s a luxury that we can’t afford to skip. Especially if we want to be at our highest level.
All in all, a step towards bettering your health is tedious. You are going to have to make accommodations for new additions to your routine. But in the end, it will be very beneficial to your overall health.
Until next time,
Sweet T.
