Summary: (Per Author)
They took too much. Left too little. I had nothing to lose… Until him.
Logan Bennett is a hero. The man that makes the world a better place. He locks the sick and depraved away.
But while he’s saving lives, I’m taking them. Collecting the debts that are owed to me.
Ten years, they took from me. They left me for dead.
They should’ve made sure I stayed dead.
Now I’m taking from them. One name at a time.
I’ve trained for too long. I’ve been patient. I can’t stop now.
Revenge is best served cold…
My Thoughts: (Caution: Spoilers)
The morally grey area.
It’s where good and evil combine that most people are not aware of. Where morality is used to make clear cut decisions that are not so… black and white.
To define this series with a single word, should be next to criminal. To read this book, means to alter your brain chemistry.
The FMC (Lana Meyers) experienced hell because the entire town targeted her. This was because her father was accused of an atrocious crime. A crime, in which he was framed.
We’re taught the police are those who serve the community. Ones who’s sole job is to protect us from being targeted unlawfully.
But what happens when those who swore to protect us, decided to turn on us?
Despite the hell she experienced, a miracle happened to save her life when all hope was supposedly lost. She came back grieving her losses from her old life. And when she was finished, she started to plan.
An avenging angel with her best friend by her side. Getting justice that was never served.
Logan Bennett crossed paths with Lana by chance. A serial killer and a cop. Who would’ve thought?
He’s on the right side of the law, and FBI agent. Bringing justice to those he swore an oath to protect. Specializing in profiling serial killers. The irony, right.
But when he mixed up Lana identity with the victim in his case? Well, damage was surely done to their relationship.
Revenge is best served cold, but in this case, I’m glad it was served on a hot platter.
Thinking of a plan, so detailed, to the tiniest of seconds is impressive. Ten years of planning and finding the original killer for her mother. Ten years of crossing off training and crossing off names that contributed to her downfall.
Ten years of waiting for your justice.
Some wait a lifetime. But the morally grey area is a special place for those who use evil to fight evil. And I can’t say that I mind.
Lana’s plan was carefully curated so that she wouldn’t lose her mind to the killings. Which meant spacing out everything so she’d have time to recover.
Regardless of it all, would love still prevail?
The strength she had to bring justice for her family and herself, was the most poetic justice I’ve ever read.
At the beginning, it was obvious Lana has no plan after her list was complete. There was just nothing. Until she kept getting to know SSA Bennett. Then everything changed.
Suddenly she had something to live for. A future to look forward to.
Lana getting her poetic justice and Logan accepting her for who she is. How poetic, no?
Overall, this series altered my brain chemistry by looking at things differently. Just because somebody wears a suit, doesn’t mean they’re the good guys.
